Sweets are one of the pillars of Italian tradition. They are a great way to start the day at breakfast, but also a perfect treat for a snack or after dinner. At Eataly, we work with the best brands that Italy has to offer for our selection of candies, cookies, and chocolates, prepared by our artisanal producers with regional ingredients.
Italian cuisine is different from others due to the tradition of pasta dishes, and pasta is its most famous symbol. Despite its base of simple ingredients such as flour and water, pasta-making is an art that includes an enormous variety of shapes and sizes: in our stores you can try all types, of all tastes, made with many different flours. And don’t forget you can find also gluten free pasta!
Rice and grains
Rice and cereals, such as barley and buckwheat, are precious ingredients in the traditional Italian diet, enjoyed pure or as high-quality flours. Rice, in particular, is essential for preparing a perfect risotto: a creamy first course to be enriched with the ingredients you prefer, such as saffron or porcini mushrooms.
The tomato has the scent of Southern Italy and is one of the symbols of the Mediterranean diet. One of the tastiest ways to eat it is cooked and turned into a sauce. Eataly tomato sauces are natural, genuine and fresh, with a slightly sweet taste. They are perfect to prepare excellent pasta sauces, but also to enrich second courses of meat, fish and vegetables.
Sauces and condiments
On our shelves you can find many types of sauces to dress pasta: they are ready to taste, you will not have to do anything but heat them and you will have a first course as good as freshly cooked. And not only that: you will also find hundreds of preserves in jars, from fish to vegetables in oil and in vinegar, to spreads, capers and olives, ready to eat or to add to your recipes.
Italy is the country which offers the widest variety of types of olives. From these many different oils are born, depending on the region of origin: from the most delicate to the strongest and most aromatic. At Eataly, we are proud to offer many varieties of extra virgin olive oil from producers that exclusively harvest in Italy.
Vinegar is a very commonly-used ingredient in Italian cuisine. The most prized is balsamic vinegar, the black gold of Italy: a first-rate excellence; the older it is, the better it is. Balsamic vinegar is used to season salads, but not only that: its personality can in fact give something extra to all foods, from cheese to meat, to strawberries.
The tradition of creating honey is rich in Italy. Though they are primarily used as sweet spreads on toast in the morning, these sweet spreads can also be paired with cheese and salumi, like our chefs do every day in our restaurants.
Homeware & Books
At Eataly, we believe that good food deserves good design, so we strive to offer customers the best housewares and utensils to add that distinctive Italian touch. To do so, we bring Italian flair to your kitchen counter and your table: you can find Eataly original products, but also wine goods and books about authentic Italian recipes.
